PAM Health: Redefining Recovery for Injured Workers

ree

In an exclusive interview, Bloom Magazine had the opportunity to sit down with Mandy Vatter, Account Executive at Florida PAM Health Hospitals, and Christopher M. Maglaras III, Vice President of the Workers’ Compensation Inpatient Program at PAM Health. Together, they offered a behind-the-scenes look into PAM Health’s innovative approach to post-acute care and how they’re raising the bar for injured workers.

At the core of PAM Health’s mission is an unwavering commitment to personalized, compassionate care. “We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals in the communities we serve,” Mandy shared. “In workers’ compensation, our focus is on putting the patient first—whether that’s through one-on-one physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy, or coordinated support from our specialty physicians and nurses. Everything we do is aimed at helping patients reach their highest level of functional recovery.”

PAM Health understands the unique challenges employers and adjusters face when navigating workers’ comp claims. That’s why their process prioritizes communication and customization. “We tailor our communication to meet the specific needs of each client, from admission and authorization to discharge,” Mandy explained. “We know every case is different, especially across state lines, so we stay adaptable while always keeping the patient at the center.”

Christopher shared the story of how PAM Health’s Workers’ Compensation Program began. “The program launched in 2018, after our insurance partners voiced concerns about care quality and communication in traditional hospital settings,” he said. “We saw an opportunity to create something better—and since then, we’ve helped over 1,000 injured workers receive the care they need and deserve.”

PAM Health currently operates 78 hospitals—including specialty LTACs, inpatient rehab facilities, and behavioral health centers—with nine more opening in 2024 across Florida. “Our growth is mission-driven,” Christopher emphasized. “We’re expanding to serve more communities, but always with the same commitment to excellence and outcomes.”

What makes PAM Health different? According to Mandy, it’s their individualized approach. “We take the time to understand each injured worker’s job requirements and home environment. That insight helps us prepare them for a safe and lasting return to both their lives and their livelihoods.”

Healing isn’t just physical—and PAM Health’s approach reflects that. Their teams work closely with patients on mental wellness through dedicated NeuroPsych specialists and holistic recovery plans. They also provide personalized, multidisciplinary pain management strategies that minimize opioid risk and explore alternative therapies.

Staying on the cutting edge is a priority for PAM Health. Through partnerships with tech leaders like EksoBionics, they offer patients access to tools like the FDA-cleared EksoNR exoskeleton suit, as well as virtual reality, robotics, and smart rehab devices. Their participation in the Advanced Rehabilitation Technology (ART) study shows their commitment to improving outcomes through science-backed innovation.

With a culture grounded in respect, integrity, teamwork, and healing with compassion, PAM Health’s staff lives its mission every day. “We truly believe in what we do,” Christopher said. “From patient care to customer service, our values guide us in every interaction.”

For employers, adjusters, and case managers, the referral process is simple. “Just reach out to your local PAM Health admissions office or your market’s Workers’ Comp Program Director,” Mandy advised. “We work quickly—within hours—to conduct assessments and authorize care. The process is streamlined so the patient can begin their recovery without delay.”
