With over two decades of service to the City of Hollywood, Florida, Tanya Bouloy has become a steady force in public service. For the past 10 years, she’s brought her expertise and thoughtful leadership to the world of Human Resources and Risk Management—currently serving as a Risk Management Analyst, where she oversees the city’s complex claims program.
From workers’ compensation to general and auto liability, Tanya’s work is grounded in process, precision, and purpose. She also leads damage claims on behalf of the city and contributes her knowledge and heart to the broader risk management community as an active board member for PRIMA South Florida, helping organize the annual PRIMA State Conference.
While she never imagined a career in risk management, the field quickly won her over. “I didn’t even know this was a career path until I was in it,” she reflects. “But now I love it.” What she enjoys most is collaborating with the people who make the work meaningful—her team in HR, the city’s third-party administrator, defense counsel, her PRIMA peers, and the tight-knit South Florida risk management network that supports one another like family.
For Tanya, success lies in the details. “Keep good records,” she says—something she’s mastered over the years. She’s also learned the value of follow-up and patience, especially when emotions run high in claim situations. “Sometimes claimants get upset when their claim is denied. You can’t take it personally. You just keep doing your job with compassion and clarity.”
Tanya’s workweek is a whirlwind of coordination and review. She checks new claims, meets with the Risk Management team, participates in liability roundtables, attends PRIMA board meetings, and coordinates between departments and adjusters. Whether she’s reviewing medical records or responding to Requests to Produce, she handles it all with efficiency—and grace.
The challenges of the field aren’t lost on her. Tanya has seen firsthand how minor injuries can spiral into long-term claims and how misinformation can cloud a claimant’s understanding of the law. But she meets those challenges with a calm, grounded presence—one built on experience, empathy, and a strong professional network.
Outside the office, Tanya leads a vibrant life full of curiosity and creativity. She’s a certified Open Water SCUBA diver, a self-taught crocheter (thanks, YouTube!), and a lifelong lover of photography and Lego builds. Her mornings begin with gratitude affirmations—and kisses from her dachshund, Gabriel, who she’d absolutely bring along if stranded on a deserted island (along with a knife and waterproof matches, of course).
Tanya’s quiet strength lies in her dependability, her ability to stay grounded, and her belief in setting boundaries. “Learning to love myself just the way I am—and knowing it’s okay to set limits, even with family—has been one of my most important lessons.”
To stay balanced, Tanya avoids email on nights and weekends and has recently embraced quiet time for meditation. Looking ahead, she sees risk management continuing to evolve alongside technology, with emerging coverage areas and new tools that will shape the future of the industry.
In every role she plays—whether at work, in community leadership, or at home—Tanya Bouloy shows up with intention, humility, and heart. Her story is one of quiet resilience and deep care, a true example of what it means to serve with integrity.
